The Educational level of this course is that of undergraduate, post-secondary or continuing education, according to the criteria of ACCET Accreditation Council for Continuing Education and Training, also as per MACTE (Montessori Council for Teachers Education).

The Elementary, I Course consists of a minimum of 200 lecture hours, 1000 internship hours or the internship time element of one school year consisting and 860 total lab hours and 140 externship/internship hours including supervised practicum hours at an approved school and the writing of designated assignments of presentation.

It also consists of two units, Unit A: Pedagogical Theory and Unit B: Externship /Internship, starting the first week of January and ending the last week of June or starting the first week of August and ending last week of January. Both units need to be completed in no more than one fiscal year to qualify for the certificate of completion.

Explanation of Subjects


Perfecting of Reading and Writing Skills, Study of Words, Building Sentences, Analogies, Vocabulary, Similes, Grammar Analysis. Different Types of Composition and Elements of the Sentence.

Clock Hours: 22 hrs


Numeration beyond 1000, Study of the Decimal System, Function of the Four Operations, Study of Powers, Divisibility, Memorization of Mathematical Facts, Introduction to Algebra, Square Root and Metric System.

Clock Hours: 30 hrs


Study of Plane Figures, Lines, Angles, Triangles, Quadrilaterals, Polygons, Study of Perimeters and Areas, Equivalencies, the Circle and its Parts.

Cultural Subjects

Study of Capitals and Countries of the World, Study of Flags, Land Forms, Animal Kingdom Classification, Plant Kingdom Classification, Geological Eras, Time Line of Life, The New Counting of History, Fundamental Needs of Man.

Classroom Management

Principles and Techniques as well as verbalization skills needed to obtain a class environment conducive to learning and self discipline. How to manage discipline situations, how to maintain the record and progress of each student, how to prepare plans of study, how to talk to parents and how to solve all kinds of situations, how to maintain the record and progress of each student, how to prepare plans of study, how to talk to parents and how to solve all kinds of situations in a class environment with rationality.

Psychology And Philosophy

This course is designed to provide an intensive practical and comprehensive study of Dr. Maria Montessori method of education. It also includes the study of the different stages of development and the child’s psychological characteristics from ages birth to twelve years of age

Pre-Requisites For Admission

  • A College Degree in any field
  • Enrollment Application and Transcripts
  • Personal interview with the Course Director
  • Previous background in education or experience in teaching is not required
  • If no college degree, a proof of 4 years of experience under the care of children is needed, or Early Childhood Course.

Pre-Requisites To Qualify For ICME Inc. Diploma

  • Fulfillment of financial responsibilities
  • Complete attendance of all lecture-demonstrations
  • A total of a least 60 hours of supervised practice
  • Internship for a period of one school year is required. Paid internships are available.
  • Presentation of written Home Studies on Montessori Psychology, Methodology and Philosophy.
  • Completion of all Montessori Manuals.

Schedule And Duration Of Course

Courses are taught every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Starting the first Saturday of August and ending the last Saturday of July.


There are sponsorships for training available for students who qualify for employment. A list and information about different schools in the area that offer sponsorships are available in the student handbook. Scholarships are also available for candidates that qualify.
